Deer Valley, Utah 2017

I am so excited to be able to share my amazing vacations with all of you now in the Travel and Lifestyle section of Sweet Things by Lizzie!! My last incredible trip was to Deer Valley, Utah, a true winter wonderland and WOW, did we get a lot of snow!! The mountains got about 4 feet to be exact during the week while we were there in January!!  My husband had been looking at all of the weather apps beginning about a month before our trip and would give me daily snow totals…He certainly got his wish this year!! We have been going to Utah each year now for many years, and I have really fallen in love with it.   Flying into Salt Lake City is really majestic as you get to see the mountains up close on the way in. Living in Florida, it is extra special for us to experience the mountains, snow, skiing, snowmobiling, and one of my favorite things..getting to wear all of the cute hats and jackets we never get to wear in Florida !! Deer Valley is only about a 45 minute drive up the mountain from Salt Lake, and you pass Park City on the way.  This is where the Sundance Film Festival takes place each year in January, and that’s the time when all of the celebrities come and hang out!! We found that the best time to go in winter is the week after New Years, as the mountains are less crowded and the hotel prices are a bit more reasonable.

One of our favorite hotels is  http://www.the-chateaux.com . It is such a wonderful ski in ski out resort, and the perfect place for a big group, families, couples, or just your own personal getaway!!  The ski runs are perfectly groomed and they make their own snow each night, based on how much snow is already on the ground.  They offer free shuttle service into Park City, so you can go to different amazing restaurants and shops each day! The staff is very accommodating and friendly, and the rooms are beautiful. This year, we took my daughter and her husband along, but unfortunately my son had to work and couldn’t join us. My daughter actually learned to ski on this trip after she took one of the classes that were offered through the hotel.  Missing my son,  I found a way to bring him along in spirit by making a Big Head of his face 🙂 We had a lot of fun taking him with us and watching people’s faces when we took pictures 🙂  All in all, we had an incredible time and as the hot weather is already approaching in Florida, I am again missing the crisp air, snow and the serenity of this spectacular place!!  I hope you get to experience the unequaled beauty and peacefulness of the mountains in Utah someday!!

I love Aspen trees covered in snow! They look like something off of a postcard!

I took this shot from the plane as we were flying in! A cocktail or two and the picture was still pretty clear 🙂

Our one bedroom suite was as big as an apartment, and had a murphy bed in the living room for the kids!

Most of the rooms have full kitchens, which is so convenient when you feel like staying in!

It’s hard not to take a good picture with such a beautiful background!

Right before we made snow angels!

Outside the beautiful Stein Erikson lodge which is right above the Chateaux.

One of the shots we took with the image of my son..He thought we were nuts, but I know it made him laugh.

My beautiful girl and me.

A gorgeous horse stopping for a break from the sleigh ride.
